Day 2: Chiang Mai Adventure Tours: Chiang Mai culture & history tours ( B/-/-)

The capital of the north, Chiang Mai has rich historical and cultural heritage which is still evident in the architecture with over 300 temples spreading in and around. Today we visit the most famous one set on Doi Suthep Mountain and embark on a walk leading us to Wat Prathat Temple near the summit. At an elevation of over 1,000 m, the temple grounds affords a panoramic view over the surrounding countryside. The tranquil town of Chiang Mai has been always noted for the exquisite handicrafts made of the hill tribe people's traditional wares. Upon leaving Doi Suthep we set off on a short drive to the neighbouring villages of Sankampaeng and Borsarng to see the various cottages industries including silk weaving, wood carving, silver ware and umbrellas making. We follow this with a visit to the old and new parts of the town featuring the great diversity. As a highlight of this evening , we visit the vibrant night market which is full of local treasures.

Upon leaving the town we set off on an hour and half drive towards Chiang Dao. The first stop is an elephant camp set in lush green jungle area. We have a chance to see the many colossal animals performing their amazing feats of strength and skill at the command of the mahouts. The mountainous region around Chiang Dao is also home of a wide array of hill tribe groups. Today we enjoy exhilarating elephant trek through the neighboring jungle, past bamboo trees and hanging creepers upwards a remote village of Lisu People. This ethnic group is originated in Tibet and usually settled in high mountain side. The relaxing atmosphere comes as we board a bamboo raft trip along the Ping River and explore some Karen and Palaung Hilltribe Villages. We drive back to Chiang Mai with stopover at Mae Sa to catch a look at the famous orchid farm.

Heading out of the town we make our way through the scenic countryside to Ayuthaya, the ancient capital of Siam from 1350 to 1767 AD. This glamorous city was all but ultimately destroyed by the hands of Burmese, however it is still fascinating to explore the ruined temples. Among these is Wat Phra Sisanphet, an impressive monument that was used as the royal temple by several kings. The following sight is Wat Chai whose the constructing patterns are very interesting. We continue to Bang Pa In, which was served as the summer palace for many Thai monarchs. This structure has a captivating collection of marvelous pavilions in a variety of Thai, Chinese, Italian and Victorian architectural styles. We board a luxury boat at Wat Potangtai Pier and cruise down the river to Bangkok, a perfect way to observe the rural landscape.

An early morning start to drive towards Chiang Rai, our base for exploration of the Golden Triangle. The drive is long but views are fantastic. On arrival we board a longtail boat for a thrilling trip upstream on the Mae Kok River through the breathtaking mountain landscape to a Karen hilltribe village. This ethnic group is originated from Burma, but had settled there long time ago, forming the largest tribal population in northern Thailand. Upon leaving this village we embark on a walk to the elephant camp and enjoy a two hour elephant ride back through the jungle to the Yao and Akha Hilltribes. They still retain their age old cultural traditions and are recognisably distinct from each other by their dress.

The royal capital of the ancient Lanna Kingdom, Chiang Saen is nestled on the Mekong riverbank which is now the border between Thailand and Laos. Today we travel by roads to Chiang Saen and visit some major sights including Wat Phrathat Jom Kitti, Wat Chedi Luang and a nearby museum. The journey continues towards the famous Golden Triangle in which powerful warlords have fought for control the opium trade. On arrival we have time to stroll around and make a stop at the opium museum. The display of pictures and documents feature the opium story dating back to the early last century onwards. Afterwards we make our way through the verdant and rugged mountain scenery to Mae Sai Town which now becomes a trading hub of Thailand and Burma. There is not much to see in this town but it is till very interesting to catch a look of Burma side. We drive back to Chiang Rai and board a flight back to the capital city.

Heading out of the town we make our way to Kanchanaburi with stopover at the picturesque floating market of Damnern Saduak, which opens in the early morning till noon. The enchanting town of Kanchanaburi has plenty to see, some of which are the famous bridge over the River Kwai , the sobering War Cemetery and the Jeath War Museum. We include these in a short sightseeing tour before we make our way though the beautiful countryside to the Kwai Noi River. The longtail boat trip takes us along the river past the stunning mountainous landscape to the Jungle Rafts. The perfect way to round off the day is a dinner followed with the performance of the Mon hill tribe.

The exploration of Kanchanaburi Region continues with a drive to the Hellfire Pass. This world famous site features the fascinating museum chronicling the events of World War II and the notorious "Death Railway". This rail link was all but partly destroyed by the offensive, however it is still fascinating to walk along the ruins. We make our way to the Tiger Temple, home of wild Damnern Saduak Bangkok Thailandtigers. They can be seen close up and are touchable. Upon leaving this site we drive to Nam Tok and board a train ride through the breathtaking landscape and the wooden bridge built along the mountainside by the allied prisoners of the second World War. The train journey deliver us to Takilen Station . Here we meet up with our driver and return to Kanchanaburi Town. The rest of the day will be free for your visit to the town and relaxation.

FAMILY HOLIDAY IN MYANMAR





Day 1: Myanmar Family Tours: Arrive - Yangon Package Tours  ( -/L/ D )Yangon myanmar

Upon arrival at Yangon International Airport, you will be welcome by our VietLong Guide and transferred to hotel.
Yangon, formerly known as Rangoon, is a relatively quiet and charming city. Its impressive colonial and spiritual heritage makes it one of the most fascinating cities in South East Asia. Lunch at Padonmar Restaurant.
This afternoon, your journey begins with sightseeing around the city and its’ colonial buildings. Continue to the National Museum where a tour of the priceless ancient artifacts, works of art and historic memorabilia will help you gain insight in to the country’s history. Of particular note are the three halls on the ground floor, which hold exhibits on the evolution the Myanmar alphabet, the Lion Throne Room, and artifacts from the Yatanabon Period. Following your Museum visit, continue to the Kyaukhtatgyi Pagoda, home to a 70metre long reclining Buddha.
As the evening approaches, we arrive at Myanmar’s holiest monument, the Shwedagon Pagoda. A towering stupa covered with 60 tons of pure gold leaf.

Optional Visit: The Thiripyitsaya Sky Bistro is perched on the 20th floor of Sakura Tower, overlooking panoramic views of metropolis. This afternoon, visit to ‘National Races Village’ at Thaketa Township. Here you will have an opportunity to learn about the culture, traditions, and living style of the ethnic minorities of Myanmar. A very diverse country, much of the population belongs to the Kachin, Kayah, Kayin, Chin, Bamar, Mon, Rakhine and Shan people. Children and adults will enjoy learning about the lifestyles of these people and the colourful traditional outfits that they wear. Traditional houses are on display to explore the living quarters found throughout the country, each with unique symbols and building styles particular to the people. Photos opportunities abound, as children are invited to try on the traditional dresses at each village. Additionally, the ‘National Races Village’ contains 7.5 acres of mangrove forests within the 117-acre village site which are being preserved for educational activities.

After breakfast, transfer to jetty for boat trip to Twantay, a peaceful town on the bank of the Twantay Canal. It is located 14 ½ miles (23.2 km) away from Yangon and the boat trip takes approximately 2 hours. Along the way, observe life upon the river- from the fishermen casting their nets to the villages set upon the banks on the outskirts of Yangon.

Up on arrival to Twantay, travel by local trishaw through the village. Stop at the local market and Shwesandaw Zedi. Your final visit is to a pottery village. Twantay is known for creating fantastic Twantay in yangon Myanmarpottery and here you can watch the locals demonstrating the traditional techniques for creating earthen wares. Transfer back to Yangon and rest of your day at leisure at your hotel.

Day 4: Myanmar Family Tours: Yangon – Bagan ( By flight ) - Sightseeing tours ( B/ L/ D )

This morning, transfer to the Yangon airport for the flight to Bagan. Transfer to the hotel and have a chance to freshen up before beginning your day of sight-seeing. Start with a trip to the colorful Nyaung Oo Market, before visiting some of the temples of Bagan. Stops include the Shwezigon Pagoda with its magnificent golden stupa, Wetkyi-In Gubyaukgyi cave temple with exquisite murals paintings, and the elegant Htilominlo Temple noted for its fine plaster carvings and glazed sandstone decorations.

This afternoon visit Ananda Temple, an architectural masterpiece of the early-style temple containing four impressive standing Buddha images. Continue to the nearby Ananda Okkyaung, one of the few surviving brick monastery from the early Bagan period. Visit the highest temple (61metres) in Bagan, before embarking on a horse carriage ride! The ride will take you past dozens of temples, including Sulamani and Dhammayangyi, and pass through the traditional village of Taungbi. As the sun begins to set, climb to one of the upper terraces for views over the plains of Bagan.

Learn the interesting process of creating “Poneyay” (pea powder paste) and see how local plum jam is made and packed. In addition, visit workshops of two of the region’s best known products: handmade lacquer ware and wooden handicrafts. In addition, you will visit the villages and observe about how Cartwrights make a traditional bullock carts, still used by farmers and locals throughout the country. A great afternoon for hands-on activities, as the craftsmen love to share their techniques with visitors.

After lunch, transfer to the airport for domestic flight to Heho. From Heho a 1-hour scenic drive leads to Nyaung Shwe, the gateway village to Inle Lake. Board a private motorboat to head out to Inle Lake, one of Myanmar’s most spectacular sights. We pass villages built on stilts over the lake, inhabited by the local Intha people. Observe the leg-rowing fishermen and see their floating gardens built up from strips of water hyacinth and mud and anchored to the bottom with bamboo poles.
Your hotel is situated upon the lake, with sweeping views of the tranquil waters. The remainder of the afternoon is at your leisure to relax and soak in the views.

Today a private boat and guide will take you on a sightseeing tour of Inle Lake. Continue to Phaung Daw Oo Pagoda, the lake’s main sanctuary, which contains five sacred Buddha images covered in gold leaf. Explore the local crafts of Inle Lake with a stop at the weaving village of Inpawkhone and a cheroot factory, where the typical Burmese cigars are made by hand.

After breakfast at the hotel transfer to Yangon's Mingaladon Airport for the flight to Bagan (Nyaung Oo).
Thousands of ancient stupas and temples in this area make Bagan, one of the most remarkable archaeological sites in Asia. From the 11th till 13th century, when Bagan was the capital of Myanmar, the rulers constructed huge stupas and temples, many of which are still standing today on the banks of the Irrawaddy River.
On arrival, morning sightseeing features the Shwezigon Pagoda and its magnificent golden stupa, Wetkyi-In Gubyaukgyi, a cave temple with exquisite jatakas murals paintings and the elegant Htilominlo Temple noted for its fine plaster carvings and glazed sandstone decorations.

In the afternoon, visit Ananda, an architectural masterpiece of the early-style temple and Ananda Okkyaung is one of the few surviving brick monasteries from the early Bagan period.
From Thatbyinnyu, the highest temple in Bagan with 61 meters, depart for a horse and carriage tour among the temples passing through the traditional village of Taungbi, Sulamani Temple and the massive Dhammayangyi Temple noted for its remarkable brickwork. After breakfast at the hotel, visit the colourful Nyaung Oo Market.
Proceeding to Myinkaba village where we will stroll through the village to observe workshops producing traditional lacquer ware, a specialty of Bagan. We can also appreciate the monuments of Myinkaba village, Gubyaukkhi, an early period Pyu-style temple of Hindu influence with some of the oldest mural paintings in Bagan, as well as the Manuha and Nanpaya Nyaung Oo Market in Myanmartemples.
Return to the hotel for a rest. Mid-afternoon, transfer to the riverside and embark on a local boat for a leisurely mini-cruise on the Ayeyarwady River in view of the Bagan temples like Lawkananda, Bupaya and Shwezigon while the sun slowly sets.

DAY 4: SEAT – IN – COACH TOURS; TUESDAY: BAGAN – MANDALAY ( B /-/-)

After breakfast at the hotel transfer to Nyaung Oo Airport for the flight to Mandalay.
On arrival, a sightseeing tour of Mandalay, Myanmar’s cultural capital starts with the Mahamuni Pagoda, famous for its venerable statue of Buddha covered with gold leaf. Mandalay has also long been known as a centre of skilled craftsmanship and in former times supplied the Royal courts. A tour of traditional workshops includes crafts such as woodcarving, marble masonry, Kalaga tapestry and gold leaf making.
Check-in at your hotel and rest. In the afternoon, visit the Kuthodaw Pagoda with its 729 marble stone slabs of Buddhist scriptures (known as the world’s biggest book) and Shwenandaw Monastery, noted for its exquisite woodcarving. Enjoy the sunset from Mandalay Hill to end the day.

DAY 5: SEAT – IN – COACH TOURS: WEDNESDAY: MANDALAY – AMRAPURA – AVA – Mandalay Myanmar SAGAING – MANDALAY - SIGHTSEEING TOURS ( B/-/- )

After breakfast at the hotel depart for full day trip to the former capitals of Amarapura, Ava and Sagaing.
We begin with a visit to the 18th century capital, Amarapura where we attend the daily meal of over thousand monks at the country’s largest monastery; Mahagandayon. Proceed to Ava, the capital from the 14th to the 18th century and visit by horse carriage the old wooden Bagaya Monastery and the remains of the Royal Palace and fort.
Afternoon cross the bridge over the Irrawaddy River and continue to Sagaing. Covered with 600 white-painted pagodas and monasteries, Sagaing Hill is widely regarded as the religious centre of Myanmar and is home to 3,000 monks and 100 meditation centres.
Finish the day with a walk over the 200 year-old U Bein Bridge, constructed entirely from teak.

DAY 6: SEAT – IN – COACH TOURS: THURSDAY: MANDALAY – HEHO – INLE LAKE  BOAT TRIPS ( B/-/-)

In the morning transfer to Mandalay Airport for the flight to Heho.
From Heho, enjoy a scenic drive to Inle Lake, one of Myanmar best-known sights. The Intha people, a tribe of Mon descent, mostly inhabit the lakeshores and floating villages.
On arrival at Nyaung Shwe village, transfer by boat to start a sightseeing tour of Inle Lake including a chance to see the leg-rowing fishermen and the floating gardens, built up from strips of water hyacinth and mud and anchored to the bottom with bamboo poles.

After the market visit we return to the mainland and transfer to Heho Airport for the flight back to Yangon. DAY 1: LAOS - VIETNAM OVERLAND TOURS : ARRIVAL - HANOI PACKAGE TOURS (-/-/-)

On arrival at Noi Bai Airport, you are met by our guide and transferred to hotel. The capital of Vietnam, Hanoi is a stylish and gracious city that retains an unique old world charm and some Asia's most striking colonial architecture. The many lakes and parks make for relaxing atmosphere. If time permits we enjoy a short cyclo ride through the bustling old quarter streets named after the specific goods once offered for sale at these places.

DAY 2: LAOS-VIETNAM OVERLAND TOURS : HANOI FULLDAY SIGHT SEEING TOURS( B/-/-)

Today we commence our exploration of Hanoi with the Ho Chi Minh Complex, which contains the mausoleum of the nation’s founder Ho Chi Minh, the Presidential Palace and the Ho Chi Minh’s house on stilts. Close to this complex is the One Pillar Pagoda, whose origins date back to the foundation of city. We follow it with a visit to the Temple of Literature, which is well known as the first university of Vietnam and the History Museum with an excellent collection of artifacts illustrating the Vietnamese history. Later on, we will take a short visit at Hilton Prison where Vietnamese soldiers did captured & detained American pilots from 1967 till 1973 to learn more about the history of Vietnam war against American Imperialists.
In this afternoon, visiting the outlaying Ethnologic Museum is also a major part of our sightseeing. This gleaming mansion is dedicated to Vietnam's 54 ethnic group s. Afterwards we drive to the Tran Quoc Pagoda and Quan Thanh Temple. They are some major highlights set by the beautiful West Lake. We also visit the old quarters and the peaceful lake of Hoan Kiem with its sacred temple. In front of this lake is the famous water puppet theatre where we will see a fantastic performance.

They are the result of many times of rising and lowering processes of the continent to form a karst. The process of nearly full erosion and weathering of the karst created the unique Ha Long Bay in the world. In 2000, UNESCO recognized it as the World Heritage for the second time for its geographical and geomorphologic values.
On arrival at 12h30, We are welcome on the traditional boat and have welcome drink. Start the boat trip to visit Halong Bay with outstanding natural beauty of many Islands such as Con Cho Island, Dinh Huong Island, Canh Buom Island, Ga Choi Island  and have fresh seafood lunch served on board.
In the afternoon, you will have opportunity to visit one of the most beautiful cave in Ha long Bay- Sung Sot Cave or Suprising Cave, then wimming on Titop or do kayak to visit Luon Cave. Watching sunset. Fishing with seine and owing bamboo boat (on request)

In this morning, we will keep on our journey by junk-boat to to explore more islands & natural beauties of Halong Bay.
At around 10:30: you will have a brunch served on cruise before reaching to Halong Harbour at around 12:00. Right here our car will be at disposal to pick you up then drive back to Hanoi with stopover at Dong Trieu Ceramic village.

Then we continue to discover Imperial Citadel from where the Nguyen Dynasty ruled between 1802 and 1945 including Flag Tower, Noon Gate, Nine Dynastic Urns, Nine Holy Cannons, Thai Hoa Palace, and Forbidden Purple City. The city tour in Hue includes with a chance to see a Royal musical performance of Hue (which is listed also as one of cultural UNESCO World Heritages)
In the afternoon visit the elaborate mausoleums of emperors Tu Duc and Khai Dinh.

Departure to Danang. The scenic 4-hour drive via Hai Van Pass offers spectacular views of mountains, the sea, idyllic beaches and villages (we can choose the shorter way by driving through the tunnel). Arrive to Hoi An, which was which was originally one of major trading centers of Southeast Asia in the 16th century.  Hoian town is now not only an UNESCO World Heritage, but a real live museum.
Visit of Hoi An Town with its low tiled houses of Chinese appearance, Japanese covered bridge, brightly painted temples and pagodas make it one of the most delightful places to visit in Vietnam.

DAY 8: LAOS-VIETNAM OVERLAND TOURS: TOUR FROM HOIAN TO MYSON SANCTUARY (B/-/-)

Today, we have a half-day trip in the morning to visit the capital and religious centre of the former Champa Kingdom of My Son, the last UNESCO World Heritage on the trip. Here, 40km southwest of Hoi An, in a lush green valley, are dozens of red brick towers and sanctuaries dating from between the seventh and thirteenth centuries.
Back to Hoian for lunch (client’s own account).
Afternoon free for shopping and further discovery of Hoian.

DAY 9: LAOS-VIETNAM OVERLAND TOURS: DANANG – HANOI (Noon flight) – LUANG PRABANG (afternoon flight)

This morning, we enjoy our last morning relaxing and shoping in Hoi An. After lunch time, our guide and driver transfer to Da Nang airport for connecting flight to Luang Prabang. Although the flight make us transit through HaNoi, It is really comfortable.

DAY 10: LAOS-VIETNAM OVERLAND TOURS: LUANG PRABANG ADVENTURE TOURS TO PAKOU CAVE

After breakfast, we depart hotel to the boat landing, and take an excursion (a few hours) by boat, upstream on the Mekong to visit Pak Ou cave in the side of a lime stone cliff and opposite of the mouth of the Mekong and Ou rivers. The sanctuaries at Pak Ou consist of two large caves, both repositories for thousands of Buddha images, which range from mere centimeter to two meters in height.
En route, Lao typical villages are barely visible behind a screen of foliage. Slender canoes bobbing by the shore, bamboo poles and floats mark the location of nets and fish traps. Our first stop will be at Ban Muangkeo, a well-known village for Lao traditional rice whisky, namely Laoh-Khao to be distilled. We are welcome to taste it and also take away. Lunch is at a riverside restaurant.
We arrive back at Luang Prabang in late afternoon, and continue by car to outskirt of town to visit Ban Xangkhong, a well-known village for its wood paper making and also Lao silk weavings with natural dyes.

Day 11: LAOS-VIETNAM OVERLAND TOURS :  LUANG PRABANG PACKAGE TOURS TO KHOUANG SI WATERFALL (B/L)

A morning breakfast, before we take a drive (30 km South) to visit Kuangsi Waterfall, which, though not very high, is spectacular and really beautiful with its green surroundings as the preserved National park. We stop en-route, to visit a fresh produced market namely Talad Phosy, and also visit Ban Na Oune, a small village of a hill-tribe group “Hmong”, probably the best-known minority group in Laos. Just before arriving at Kuangsi waterfall, there is another village of Khmu minority group, namely Ban Tha Pane that we will visit.
Our picnic lunch is served at the shady park nearby Kuangsi waterfall. enjoy day trip to Khouang Si WaterfallThere is plenty of time for relaxing and a swim in cool water, before we head back to Luang Prabang in the late afternoon. The rest of the day is spent by visiting various craft-shops, including silver smiths’ and also Hmong market in town, where some skilled embroidery-works of Hmong ladies can be seen.

Day 12: LAOS-VIETNAM OVERLAND TOURS : LUANG PRABANG - DEPARTURE

Luang Prabang - the ancient first capital of Lane Xang kingdom, the center of religious life in Laos and today the World Heritage City. We enjoy our last minutes for visiting the National Museum, the former Royal Palace which houses the collection of valuables including the famous Prabang Buddha statue, gifts received from foreign dignitaries…etc, if time permits, the rest of the day is spent free for own experience in this charming town, till transfer to Luang Prabang airport for departure to next destination.
